Devilish Details and Capability Net the F-150 the 2018 Motor Trend “Truck of the Year” Award!

A post shared by Motor Trend Magazine (@motortrend) on

We have to admit, it seemed like the snub of the century when Motor Trend passed up the aluminum-bodied F-150 when it arrived in 2015. But there was a method to that madness. As a publication of enthusiasts, simply awarding a revolutionary truck wasn’t enough. After all, that’s how they lead the announcement that the 2018 Ford F-150--at last—had nabbed the “Truck of the Year” title.

This award comes after the F-150’s midcycle refresh, which saw it borrow the Super Duty’s theme of unique grille designs on every trim, and the completion of a complete engine line-up overhaul. While this includes a light-duty PowerStroke unit set to launch next spring, its promised class-leading abilities didn’t even factor in.

Probably because the 2018 F-150’s upgrades are already best-in-class. For example, those equipping the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 will find more than the class-benchmark 470 lb-ft of torque, but 13,200 lbs. maximum towing—more than any half-ton model before it. The V8 option wasn’t left out, either, with its 3,270 lbs. maximum payload another best-in-class nod.

But the true spirit of the award came from the 2018 F-150’s attention to detail. And in that, you may not find another truck like it. With capability to tow 5,000 lbs. with ease with even the 290-hp base engine, and the 400 lb-ft of twist afforded by the Lariat’s 2.7-liter mill, there’s something for everyone, and plenty of ways to make this truck your own.

Texans are no stranger to the abilities of the F-150, which is no stranger to the “Truck of Texas” title, either! Now, our Henderson, TX customers can take pride in knowing that this new Ford pickup is beloved countrywide.
