GoRide Non-Emergency Medical Transport Service Highlights the Capabilities of the Ford Transit Wagon

There's more demand than ever for quality healthcare these days. That's especially the case for our older generation, fast approaching, entering, or already enjoying their retirement years. Of course, that means not only getting the right care, but also being able to travel between appointments comfortably, reliably, on time, and most of all, with the help they need, when they need it. Luckily for the case of Michigan's Beaumont Health network, the Ford GoRide program was there to deliver.

Partnering with the system's more than 200 facilities, the pilot Ford service will help safely ferry patients to and from their medical appointments on time using expertly outfitted Ford Transit passenger wagons. Comfortable accommodations will abound for numerous patients, from the elderly and those in wheelchairs to those with mobility needs, and even those who just lack regular and easy access to much-needed transportation. What's more, GoRide drivers will be professionally trained in proper patient care, assistance, and transport, as well as to support skilled nursing facilities from bedside to bedside, with on-demand wheelchair service and more. Best of all, however, patients will be able to enjoy the convenience of 30-day advanced pre-booking.

For our Henderson Ford dealer, this is certainly a demonstration of why our local tradespeople, day laborers, small business owners, and other commercial drivers love the new Ford Transit. It's versatile, for one, offering low, medium, and high roof heights, three lengths, and two wheelbases -- long 130-inch and extended-length, 148-inch variants -- not to mention a best-in-class 100.5 cubic feet of rear cargo space. Secondly, the van's seating arrangements are highly flexible and customizable, with eight-, ten-, twelve-, and fifteen-passenger options, some of which flip up to make room for two different wheelchair positions. Plus, aisle seating is available, its entry eased by available bus doors, running boards, and grab handles. One can even install a wider wheelchair to accommodate non-standard equipment, which is great for bariatric patients whose transportation options may have been previously limited.

What's more, the new Transit wagon is comfortable for you, too, offering available heated front seating as well as a best-in-class 77-inch interior height -- plenty of room to stretch your extremities during and between long drives. So is it capable. A powerful standard 3.7-liter V6 gives way to the option of an available 310 horsepower 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 offering best-in-class gas torque to get up and go, along with an ultra-efficient, direct-injected 3.2-liter Power Stroke® inline-five Turbo Diesel option. Best of all, it's safe, with side-wind stabilization for a sturdy ride, available lane-keeping alert to keep you situationally aware, available rain-sensing wipers for added visibility, and a rear-view camera to simplify parking. There's even a Safety Canopy System to engird you in redundant layers of protection. And of course, our Ford work van's technologically adept, with SYNC® and SYNC® infotainment system options to help keep you in touch and more.
